5 out of 5 stars!

A psychological horror done right!

Tom is struggling to keep his head above water! He’s on the verge of losing everything, his wife, his home, his whole life but Tom’s passion and love won’t let him give up just yet, he’s taking on a huge opportunity career wise.

This journey along one of the most secluded highways may be out of his comfort zone, he may not be prepared for what he’s about to face but it’s make or break for Tom! After a crazy accident, Tom finds himself roaming the terrifying Alaskan wilderness looking for his best friend, Presley, a five year old German Shepherd.

I love psychological horrors, they are some of my all time favourite reads and diving into Dalton Highway I had no idea what to expect, but I was in for a real treat!

Freddie has created this mind bending masterpiece! The characters are so relatable, his writing is smooth and descriptive yet the twists and turns create for an exciting, disorientated read.

From the very first sentence I was absolutely committed, better yet obsessed with finding out how the story ends. I don’t know if I have ever read a book that had so many potential outcomes.

I recently heard a friend of mine use the term “an unreliable narrator” this term explains Tom’s character perfectly and not in a bad way by any means. This character will leave you constantly thinking, doubting your own thoughts and conclusions.

Tom has taken the leap, was not prepared for what was to come, is now faced with some of the most terrifying moments of his life. Is there truly something aside from the Alaskan wildlife ready to attack or is Tom fighting his own inner demons.

Definitely one to pick up! I highly recommend!

Thank you so much Freddie for sending me a copy to read and review! I am officially a fan of your work and look forward to more from you in the future.

5 out of 5 stars!

YES! So much yes!

The Plumbers! A zombie read I will go back to time and time again!

Liam and Pierce have officially become some of my all time favourite characters. Two best friends, extremely snarky but they just understand each other, you know? Honestly they may have the best friendship around!

Liam’s wife also fits into this friendship perfectly. I hate saying this….it’s so cliché…but….they are relationship goals! Irene is so cheeky and knows exactly how to put that smile on Liam’s face and you can just tell how much they adore each other. Irene and Pierce also get along so well, they have so much in common, making the perfect character trio!

The world they are living is so bizarre! Liam and Pierce head out each day as if its a normal work day, helping their clients with all their plumbing needs, while becoming these freaking awesome zombie killing machines.

I am amazed on how much fun, gore and hilarious moments Terry was able to pack into this B-rated Horror flick in book form! I most definitely need to get my hands on a physical copy of this and so much more of his work!

Highly recommend this read! Unless vulgar suggestions, etc bother you. Than I would not suggest this read. The humour in this novella may not be for everyone.

Thank you so much to Terry for sending me an e-copy to read a review. Oh and PS the audio book was also done SO well. The narrator did such a phenomenal job!

Can’t wait to dive into more of Terry’s work!

4 out of 5 stars!

Don’t go out after dark!

Jon seems like a simple character but the further into the story you go you find out just how complex he is!

When the Sky Goes Dark starts off as a slow burn, getting to know your main character and what he’s all about but it’s not long and before you know it all chaos breaks loose. People are dropping left and right but the most terrifying thing happens when the sky goes dark!

Honestly and I say this will 100 positivity! The moment I jumped into this read I felt it read like a B-rated horror film…. and I was ALL for it! So much going on, mayhem everywhere, people going bonkers but yet Oliver snuck in the perfect amount of humour! As the story went on we didn’t completely lose the B-rated vibes but it shifted into more of a deeper, heartfelt story when Jon was searching for his loved ones and fellow survivors while feeling all the pain and suffering. People fighting to survive, doing anything they needed to do, even finding themselves doing things they could never see themselves doing… all in order to live through another night.

Jon has to learn how to survive keeping himself and hopefully those around him safe. Jumping into this role that’s not his usual self, you get to see his quirks and true personality traits shine though. As I mentioned he became a very complex character and where he may have been very predictable at time, others you had absolutely no idea where he was going to go with it!

Jon’s journeys and the people he comes across only become more intense and it’s almost as if he starts to loose his own sanity.

I highly recommend this read if you are into those end of the world, apocalyptic type reads. I can’t thank Oliver enough for sending me a copy to read and review. I look forward to more of his work in the future.

5 out of 5 stars!

Black toxic smoke consuming the world one country at a time!

Evil lurking in the dark!

There’s no where to run, no where to hide…..

Monstre is truly the end of the world.

Duncan’s debut novel Monstre: Volume One was unbelievable! I am completely invested in this world and can’t wait for volume two.

I thoroughly enjoyed the format of Monstre. Jumping back and forth between day 0 when everything went down at the research facility to the future. Watching as people lose their minds doing absolutely anything they can to survive but honestly they have no idea what they will be truly facing when the smoke hits. Monstre is also told from multiple perspectives which only gives more depth to an already amazing read.

Dark, gruesome and incredibly detailed! I have read a lot of grim stories but the emotions, feelings and connections between the characters is what made this story much more gut-wrenching. The recognition, seeing your family, friends, neighbours people you cared for ripped apart or mangled so bad almost to the point where they blended in with earth itself! This is where the story will consume you.

I am absolutely impressed with Duncan’s talented story telling. There was not a single moment where I found myself bored while reading Monstre and just when the story starts to slow and you are ready to take that deep breath between the hard moments your beloved characters are blind sided with another horrid, life changing event.

Monstre will devour your mind and soul.

I was completely absorbed from the very first sentence. Not to mention Duncan keeps you questioning what these Monstre’s are in the dark and where they come from. Hoping to get more answers by the end… but do you?

One of my all time favourite reads of 2020 and I highly recommend it.

Thank you so much to Duncan for sending me a copy to read and review.

4 out of 5 stars!

Phenomenal characters and outstanding world building!

Jake and Louie really set the bar in this story, these two will completely warm your heart. Brothers thrown into an awful situation but that’s okay! These two can hold their own and nothing will get in the way of protecting each other. Two extremely strong and forever loyal young men!

Elemental Links is packed full of incredible characters. Each story needs to have those strong main characters which of course this read does, but M.A. Leon truly shows her talent with creating characters when she created just as memorable supporting characters.

Jake and Louie are just starting to become more comfortable with their talents. Jake is becoming more and more skilled with his sword and Louie is learning to control his powers, when their whole world is flipped upside down. Desperate, full of so much unknown and with darkness at their heels they set out to meet their safe location. Packed full of excitement! Full of evil, magic, battles, warriors, friendship and some great humour. M.A. Leon has created this exciting world that reads so smoothly and fast paced you will get swept away.

I love a read balanced with great world building and wonderful characters! Elemental Links has both and so much more. I look forward to reading on in this world and learning more about these brilliant characters in book two: Blood Ties. (which is already out might I add, so you can always binge read!).

Thank you so much to M.A. Leon for sending me this copy to read and review. I look forward to reading on in book two!

What a STRIKING read!…(see what I did there?)…But honestly Striker X is such a colorful, vivid, exciting, yet dangerous world.

Vex is such a powerful, dominate character! Driven to be so much more than his father ever was or believed him to be. He has his guard up, thick skin protecting him from emotions of those around him. Vex is here to do his job and nothing more. However as the story goes on you see Vex grow emotionally is so many ways.

Vex’s day to day work as a Striker in the Interplanetary Galactic Force is dangerous enough hunting and killing these unimaginable beasts but he’s not worried. Vex knows his strength and ranking is well suited and deserved, yet he is completely blind to the corruption happening close to home. Although I don’t know who should be worried more… Vex is truly an unstoppable force to be reckoned with. One heck of an incredible character!

Negus’s world building is so imaginative. The creatures, sights, scents, right down to the almost daily oxygen level checks with Vex’s navigator is so intricately placed to devour the reader into another world.

I would love to see this duology adapted not only into film but a video game as well. This would be absolutely insane and it needs to happen!

I was so lucky to be able to review Striker X by listening to the audio book and let me tell you the story itself is already an impact, let alone an audio-book put together as well as this. The narrator did such a fantastic job, the sound effects and added music was not over powering nor did it take away from the story telling itself.

This is defiantly a read for sci-fi, video game lovers. Thank you so much Negus for sending me a copy to read and review. I look forward to Striker Y.

Two amazing authors with a chilling story and they executed it perfectly!

Charlie is just getting settled into her knew life, learning how to do things differently now that she is bound to a wheel chair for life, she truly has lost all independence. Until she discovers her new ability and connects with another small group of people who also share this same power. Charlie thought her world had already become a lot more dark after the accident but she has no idea what else is out there waiting to control her, keeping her on the ground.

This novella is packed full of eerie goodness, it has a little something for everyone.

This 130 page read is the sit down and devour it in one sitting kind of read.

These characters are so well done! Each of them are overcoming a life changing event while struggling with parts of their past, some with anger, some with resentment and some with remorse. This world is so much darker than it shows itself to be and once the evil is stirred Charlie and her new friends find out who they shouldn’t have trusted, just how much they will have to fight and of course not without loss!

I am wowed by this fascinated story and will need to get my hands on more of Wesley and Somer’s work while following any of their future work.

I also can’t thank Silver Shamrock Publishing enough for sending me a copy to review. The pieces they releasing are incredible and have raving reviews….

Keep your eyes out for more from me!

What a unique read!

In The Beginning is Nick’s intense and thrilling story of how heaven and hell became what they are, how Lucifer was banished to hell and the truth that comes forward when two people destined to be in love changing life forever.

I was in shock of how well Nick switched the rolls of God and Lucifer. To feel so many frustration and anger towards God but to feel your heart soften when Lucifer was around. So many emotions to be had in this read!

The second half of this story was written as The New Testament and this is where the two innocent humans who are madly in love come into the picture. Their lives are not overly extraordinary, they struggle day to day as many of us do but they have each other to live for. They strive to do good and to make the world better any little way they can while dealing with their own life problems. Until something awful happens, pulling them apart and one of them feels forced to become bad in the world, do harm themselves and contradicting everything they stood for. I found this part fascinating and yet I found it made me fight with myself and my own beliefs ….perhaps what I may do if faced with this situation myself..

Nick’s writing is captivating, fast and to the point. This is such a quick read and although Fiction it may open your eyes to so many things going on around the world. Such a great underlying meaning in this read.

Thank you so much Nick for sending me a copy to read and review. I appreciate it so much and can’t wait to see what you else you put out into the world with that fascinating mind of yours!

COMING THIS MONDAY JULY 27, 2020! MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

I am blown away! Take What You Can is Heather Gavin’s debut novel! This is why I love reading, there is so much talent in the world.

Paige is this well behaved, shy, gullible, keep to herself type of lady. (That is of course until she meets Fredrick).

Fredrick is this mysterious, dark, yet alluring handsome young man that all girls could fall for.

The supporting characters in this story… Josh, Leah, Luke, Dan, Melissa, Connor, Jason, Kelly and Paige’s father are so well done. If you are a reader drawn to character driver stories, Take What You Can is definitely for you. BUT! It doesn’t stop there! Take What You Can is packed full of drama, excitement and action. So…if an exciting story line is your cup of tea, well than Take What You Can is the perfect read for you too!

The splash of romance was just the right amount and every bit mysterious and puzzling. Paige had this gravity pull to Fredrick, she just couldn’t get enough. Yet Fredrick was closed off, guarded and wouldn’t come out honestly to Paige on what his true feelings were or what he wanted from her.

The only reason I removed one star from my rating is when it came to new situations Paige was in, something bad would happen and yet Fredrick was always there to save the day. Although this did highlight Fredrick’s character showing how protective he was over Paige and how mysterious he really was. I found it a little unnatural on how often this scenario would hit. I know so many people would disagree with me and a younger adult would absolutely love this aspect and would tell me that Paige was in some of those situations simply because she got intertwined with Fredrick and his friends. I would 100% agree and I know this was Heather’s meaning for the characters. I just found it a bit repetitive. This was such a SMALL, SMALL thing to me and doesn’t stop the fact that I absolutely LOVED this read and would highly recommend it!

Honestly! If this is Heather’s debut novel, I can’t wait to see what else she brings into the book world and I most definitely can’t wait for book two.

Thank you so much Heather for sending me an ARC to read and review. It means so very much to me.

5 out of 5 stars!

What an amazing debut novella!

Joshua Marsella is a new horror author in the book community and we all adore him so! He is such a fantastic guy!

Scratches is packed full of eerie goodness with a twisted, yet bitter, heart-wrenching story line!

Connor and his Mother may have a disconnected relationship and for very obvious reasons (as you learn throughout this read). Yet there are moments in this story where you will love what they have (although they are few). Connor has moved into this home not knowing the relative in a close personal way, he has no idea what their past was and what type of person they were. This shows to be truly terrifying when the evil is stirred.

I feel so many teenagers would find Connor relate-able and Scratches may remind us all about moments we may have experienced from our childhood. Moments where are minds truly mess with us but Connor was truly living it and how terrifying it was! I couldn’t imagine experiencing these horrifying moments, thinking you may be absolutely insane but yet it feels so real. Reaching out to your Mother or people around you subtly trying to seeing if you can get some answers and them shrugging it off telling you its all in your head. Although they may know that’s not true, they just don’t want to believe it’s happening, they don’t want to have to deal with such evil again.

Joshua’s writing is fantastic! Scratches is so fast pace and each page of this novella is packed full of dark goodness. Don’t get me wrong, although I said I feel Connor would be so relate-able to many teenagers, this is not a read for young! It would scare the pants right off them.

I am so happy I dived into this read! I was absolutely consumed and I can’t wait to see what else Joshua has in store for us. Call me a new dedicated fan!
