“THE CONCLUSION TO NEAL SHUSTERMAN’S BREATHTAKING BESTSELLING TRILOGY IS IN YOUR HANDS….PROTECT IT”
Genre: Young Adult | Science Fiction | Dystopia | Fantasy
4 out of 5 stars
It’s always hard to review the next book in a trilogy or series without giving spoilers away.
The Toll is a book that had so many readers itching to get their hands on. Needing answers, wanting to find out exactly want happens. Thanks to Simon and Schuster Canada I received a surprise arc copy right on release day.
I have seen such a mix of reviews for this conclusion on such a hyped young adult trilogy and I am here to say I am on the positive side of these reviews.
Neal Shusterman created this incredible unique world, with such meaningful characters, a powerful underlining story and lets not forget his incredible writing.
The Toll only added to this creation. Not only does the reader receive closure on so many open moments lingering from Scythe and Thunderhead but the story adds even more twists and turns keeping you committed to the end.
The Toll does surpass 600 pages making this a longer read than your average 300-350 page novel. I may say my only small negative on this read was the filler. There were times when I did find my mind drifting and it seemed to be during those moments. Parts that aren’t necessarily crucial to the plot or characters. Although; when I pick up a larger sized book I expect there to be some filler. The author has taken all this time to create this fantastic world and they want to be sure they are showing the reader each and every corner of it.
All in all I really did enjoy this read and I look forward to what Neal has in store next.
“It is our nature… to surpass nature.”
Thank you again to Simon & Schuster Canada for sending this arc my way for review.

Now not only is the guts of the book fan-freaking-tastic but the physical book is glorious! Depending on the edition you get….(may I suggest the Hardcover special edition copy). The book reads just as a B movie. You get the play button, movie previews (which all need to be brought to book), movie posters. Then of course you have a soundtrack and end credits. Now if you go the route I suggested and get the hard cover special edition you also receive alternate endings and a few other little jazzy features.
